Welcome to the 2022 Virginia Association for Environmental Education (VAEE) Annual Conference at the Airfield Conference Center and 4-H Educational Center in charming Sussex County, VA! From Friday, August 12th to Sunday August 14th, we will host educational, inspiring, and enjoyable workshops, make and takes, concurrent sessions, social time, and field trips! Incorporating Student Environmental Research into MWEEs
Limited Capacity seats available

This lively discussion will focus on opportunities for educators to provide MWEEs using the GLOBE
Program and NOAA’s Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program. Speakers will include a
representative from Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES), grantees from schools
and informal education centers serving marginalized students in the Chesapeake Bay and a GLOBE
Program official.

Due to a family emergency, Dani is unable to attend and present. She will be missed, but let's keep her family in our hearts and minds this weekend. 

Environmental education (EE) is used to get students outside of classrooms and into nature. However, it
can perpetuate white supremacy. By centering abolitionist teaching (Love, 2019), could EE be used to
get outside of the harm caused by schools and dismantle racist policies and practices?

science and history MWEE that fulfills the missions of multiple partners, meets Virginia SOLs, promotes
